Black Tezcatlipoca, whose name means “Smoking Mirror” in ancient Mexico, exhibits an array of conflicting opposites to bring life or death and was often associated with space travel, discord, rulership, strife or darkness. Black Tezcatlipoca is often depicted with a smoking mirror, such as obsidian, to peer into other realms.
