My new work, Cave Creek. Winter canon. 2011., a three-part canon made in a winter landscape of the Sonoran desert for Super 8 projectors, will be premiered. Also, Hans Abrahamsen’s Schnee: “Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen’s hour of snow music is, like snow itself, intricately patterned and translucent, simple and magical. Now in his fifties, Abrahamsen went through a long period of silence and meditation before finding a new kind of music. Schnee is his biggest achievement so far: ten movements that change in character from luminous high, almost static brilliance to dancing agility, all the time discovering new aspects in the same beautiful melody. The ensemble of two pianos, each with its own trio, and percussion creates a succession of multiple refractions, folding memory into the fascinating present.”
